New Security Text Message System Added!
by GSB KJ - Saturday, 2 May 2009, 10:29 am

We have just incorporated into Moodle a new text messaging system that will alert you of any school closings, early release or emergencies. Parents of students who attended school within AOS 93 are urged to sign up for this system by emailing KJ Flewelling at kjflewelling@aos93.org

New Activites Added
by GSB KJ - Sunday, 20 January 2008, 09:05 pm

I've uploaded some new activities that can be used in your classes. The Storytelling activity looks like it could be very beneficial to classes who use journals and any kind of writing that uses peer editing.
I've also added a cool activity called real time quiz, that is just what it sounds like. The teacher develops the quiz and then launches it so that all students take it at the same with a certain amount of time to answer each question.
I've also upgraded the wiki module to include better histories of changes. (Though the wiki will still only allow one user editor at a time)
I'm looking into adding a Skype module that will allow classes to video conference with other classes and organizations of interest around the world like, NASA, Zoos, Science Labs, elementary and middle schools in other countries, the potential is endless!

Great Start!
by GSB KJ - Wednesday, 9 January 2008, 11:03 pm

All four schools got together for a hands on intro to Moodle on Tuesday Jan. 9th and made a great start at getting classes involved with Moodle as an additional learning resource. The Union 74 Moodle has been tested extensively in classroom situations but there's still more work to be done. If you have any ideas on how to make Moodle better please post it in the Help with Moodle forums or email me at kjflewelling@u74.k12.me.us. Future note; there will be another Moodle training session coming up in March 2008 at the teachers workshop days. Time & location still TBA.

Ideas:
One idea we are currently working on is getting video conferencing going with other schools around the world to learn together in the same subject areas and get more discussion from those other classes in the forums areas like Mrs. Durgin's/Ball's/Hanna's 1st grade class on Japan; I'll be trying to find a 1st grade in Japan for them to exchange ideas with. I'll also be working with Mr. Hupp's 5th grade class on their Universe course to get them to be able to talk with NASA scientists and ask them questions.

More ideas to come... Keep checking back and feel free to post other ideas in the Help with Moodle Forums.
